Monday, September 07, 2009 2:57 PM

(Source: Datamonitor)trackingLSI Corporation has announced the LSI Broadband Access Software Release 8.1 for the family of LSI APP communications processors.

LSI has said that the new software supports the IPv6 protocol, including enhanced security and quality of service management capabilities that are crucial to the delivery of services over IPv6, in addition to supporting IPv4 video, voice and data services.

LSI Broadband Access 8.1 enables tiered services in IPv6 networks by providing network managers with service-aware management tools such as subscriber flow isolation and priority modification. The software also provides bandwidth-capping algorithms that optimize bandwidth allocation and reduce the need for constant capacity upgrades.

Sindhu Xirasagar, product line manager of networking components division at LSI, said: "Our new software enables service providers to deploy the tiered services they require and increase IP address capacity immediately. In addition, it provides our OEMs with a common, full-featured platform for the development of highly intelligent, highly configurable, next-generation services."
