Rocket Software (www.rocketsoftware.com), a Boston-based developer of Enterprise Infrastructure products, and Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd (NYSE: HIT), today announced the general availability of ARKIVIO® auto-migrator, an agentless data migration tool that allows customers to transition to a consolidated file services environment based on the Hitachi Data Systems NAS platform. The entire Arkivio Auto-Stor suite is available immediately through Hitachi Data Systems and its resellers.
ARKIVIO® auto-migrator can migrate data from any CIFS or NFS based file server or NAS solution to Hitachi NAS and is available in two versions: Value and Enterprise. For customers who already know which data they intent to migrate, Arkivio auto-migrator value edition allows the creation of simple migration policies to Hitachi NAS, and includes basic reporting functionality. For customers who need more detailed reporting and classification capabilities. ARKIVIO® auto-migrator Enterprise edition includes more detailed file system analysis and reporting tools. Both the editions allow customers to schedule migrations, minimizing the impact on end-users.
"In the past, performing data migrations was a difficult process. Solutions based on proprietary hardware and software exist, but are expensive, intrusive and may require changes to corporate networks," said Giovanni Paliska, VP/GM, Arkivio Brand, Rocket Software. "We are excited to bring this capability to Hitachi customers to simplify their migrations."
"We look forward to offering the Arkivio Auto-migrator product to our customers," said Marc Trimuschat, Senior Director of Worldwide Alliances, Hitachi Data Systems. "By consolidating multiple NAS devices onto the Hitachi NAS Platform and then leveraging the tiering capabilities of Hitachi NAS, customers can greatly improve their storage utilization and reduce ongoing costs in their unstructured data environments."
