DUESSELDORF, Germany, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradata Corporation , the world's largest company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, announced today that leading retailer OBI, which operates more than 500 home improvement stores in Germany and across Europe, continues to realize business value from its Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) platform. With the Teradata system, OBI has been sharpening its system management capabilities for product assortment management and inventory management. OBI has been a Teradata customer since the year 2000.

The data warehouse environment continues to expand with enhancements that improve the capacity to manage the company's rising data volumes, resulting from OBI's steady business growth. The retailer continues to use its EDW for a broad variety of business processes. For instance, the OBI finance department will soon use the platform to generate detailed analytical reports for marketing that provide insights to drive improved economic performance.
Specifically, OBI uses its Teradata system to conduct market basket analysis for increased understanding of its customers' preferences and better target offers and promotions. By analyzing its product sales and marketing campaigns, the business can better evaluate store item profitability and spot opportunities while keeping the widest possible range of products continuously available. In addition, OBI has been gradually integrating its supplier and logistics data into the EDW database in order to make more sophisticated analyses possible in the future.
