(Source: Business Wire)trackingEpicor Software Corporation (NASDAQ:EPIC), a leading provider of enterprise business software solutions to the midmarket and divisions of Global 1000 companies, announced today that it has been named the leading vendor of Point-of-Sale (POS) software to the top North American Softgoods Retailers in a recent study published by global research and advisory firm IHL Group. This is the fourth year that IHL Group has published this report, and Epicor has been in the top spot each year (the first two years as NSB Retail Systems, which Epicor acquired in 2008).

For the "Retailer's Guide: POS Software for Softgoods Retailers" report, IHL Group evaluates vendors of POS software installed among the top 250 retailers in the specialty softgoods space and ranks the top ten vendors. These vendor rankings are based on three criteria: 1) The total number of vendor accounts among the leading 250 Softgoods retailers; 2) The estimated number of POS systems running the vendor's software based on store count and lanes per store; and, 3) The retail revenue represented by the vendor accounts. Epicor scored number one in every category with the highest account share, POS software license share, and managed revenue share”above Micros, Oracle, SAP, and JDA for the top rank.

Commenting on Epicor's prominence in the POS softgoods retail space, IHL analyst Jerry Sheldon said, "Epicor again emerged as the leader in our study ranking first in every category. Served by a strong company reputation, extensive partner network and impressive customer list, Epicor continues to display leadership in bringing software solutions to Tier 1 through Tier 4 general merchandise and specialty retailers."

The study also features an overview of the economic, technology and consumer trends affecting retailers today. Some of the key business challenges softgoods retailers seek to offset via the use of POS technology are price pressures, rising labor costs, lack of available workforce and workforce loyalty, as well as customer loyalty and empowering customers to make purchases via multiple channels.

"POS software is the most mission-critical system a retailer deploys”at the heart of their operations, enhancing the customer's shopping experience, increasing employee productivity, and driving store sales”as such, we are extremely honored to be recognized as the POS leader in the softgoods retail space," said David Henning, executive vice president and general manager for Epicor Retail.
