Today, Mansfield Oil Company announces the addition of Heron Lake
BioEnergy to C&N Companies' existing portfolio of ethanol marketing
partnerships. Heron Lake BioEnergy is a dry grind facility, using 18
million bushels of corn to produce 50 million gallons of ethanol and
160,000 tons of Distillers Dried Grains (DDGS) annually. The plant has
unit train capacity on the Union Pacific that provides competitive
shipping rates to most of the Western United States and excellent truck
logistics to Minnesota markets.
"This is our first new plant relationship since our acquisition of C&N
and is a real demonstration of the confidence placed in Mansfield and
C&N as a thriving, independent marketing partner," says Douglas Haugh,
EVP of Mansfield Oil. "Our strengths are logistics, marketing, and the
supply chain automation technology that refiners are increasingly
requiring of their ethanol suppliers. Working transparently with great
producers like Heron Lake, we can improve netbacks for plants.
Meanwhile, we reduce costs for customers by slimming transportation and
administrative costs across the supply chain."
Bob Ferguson, General Manager for Heron Lake BioEnergy, stated, "We
reviewed several potential ethanol marketing companies and we are
pleased to have selected C&N. Their transparent approach gives us the
ability to manage and forecast our costs and margins. Their access to a
nationwide market consisting of refiners and blenders gives us great
confidence in their ability to secure the best customers for our
product."
Jon Bjornstad, who founded C&N in 2000 with the goal of providing the
top ethanol marketing program for independent and farmer-owned ethanol
refiners, said, "I'm excited about working with Heron Lake to grow their
business and ours. Their competitive production capabilities and rail
logistics are an excellent fit for our network and will give us strong
competitive supply to west coast markets."
