BEIJING, Sep. 16, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- AsiaInfo Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASIA) (ASIA.NASDAQ), a China-based telecom software solutions and security products and services provider, announced Tuesday that it had signed cooperative agreements with two provincial branches of China Mobile (0941.HK; CHL.NYSE) for upgrading the business and operation support systems (BOSS) there.
The two branches are respectively in central China's Henan and east China's Jiangxi provinces
Zhang Zhenqing, CEO of AsiaInfo, said that they were glad to reach the cooperation agreements with Henan Mobile and Jiangxi Mobile. Up to now, AsiaInfo has signed cooperation agreements with 11 provinces for upgrading their BOSS to next generation business and operation support system (NG-BOSS).
By cooperating with the 11 provincial subsidiaries of China Mobile, AsiaInfo took up 33 percent share in the telecom giant's BOSS solutions market, and the user base of Zhejiang Mobile and Henan Mobile exceeded 45 million.
The BOSS upgrade program for the 11 provinces is part of China Mobile's first phase NG-BOSS project, and AsiaInfo is researching and developing the technical standards for the carrier's second phase NG-BOSS project, said Zhang.
The telecom services provider expects the first phase NG-BOSS upgrading will be finished before the end of the first quarter of 2010.
