Wednesday, September 16, 2009 3:53 PM

(Source: Business Wire)trackingPennsylvania Environmental Protection Secretary John Hanger on Tuesday, Sept. 22 will announce funding for a demonstration project designed to capture a minimum of 95 percent of the carbon dioxide (CO2) from a waste coal-fired test plant near Pittsburgh. The technology will enable world economies to address the climate crisis while meeting energy needs necessary for economic growth and reduce the United States' dependence on foreign oil.

The project is a combined effort of three companies --- CONSOL Energy, which provided the site, the coal and technical expertise; PFBC Environmental Energy Technology Inc., which provided the pressurized fluid bed combustion boiler to burn the coal; and Sargas Inc., which provided the innovative and cost-efficient carbon-capture technology.
