Diodes Incorporated Announces Low Drop Out Regulators for Improved System Stability and Transient Response
Thursday, September 17, 2009 9:52 AM

(Source: Business Wire)trackingDiodes Incorporated (Nasdaq:DIOD), a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within the broad discrete and analog semiconductor markets, has introduced a range of Low Drop Out (LDO) linear regulators that drive low ESR (equivalent series resistance) 1µF Multilayer Ceramic Chip Capacitors (MLCCs) to reduce system-level manufacturing cost and improve control loop stability and transient response.

Applications to benefit from these versatile LDOs include XDSL routers, wireless LAN cards, desktop and notebook computers, mouse and keyboard products, and battery powered equipment.

The AP731x and AP733x are 150mA and 300mA CMOS LDOs, respectively, with a wide input voltage range from 2 to 6V that addresses both fixed and adjustable output voltage requirements. Fixed output voltage LDOs cover the range between 1.0 and 3.3V, while adjustable devices support the output voltage range from 0.8V to 5V.

With an output accuracy specified at 2%, the LDOs maintain consistent regulation for variations in specified temperature, line voltage and load conditions. The devices are rated for full industrial temperature range operation from -- 40ºC to 85ºC. The LDOs' built-in over-current, over-temperature and short-circuit protection further improves circuit robustness and reliability. Particularly for portable and low power applications, the devices' quiescent current rating of 55µA provides attractive power saving opportunities.

Offered with industry standard pin-outs, the LDOs are being made available by Diodes in a range of green package options, including SOT23, SOT25 and the PCB space and height saving DFN2020-6.
