Littelfuse,
Inc. (NASDAQ:LFUS), a global leader in circuit protection products
and solutions, will create a new Technical Center at a state-of-the-art
research park located on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
campus. Scheduled for completion by March 2010, the 14,500-square-foot
facility will accelerate Littelfuse's product development efforts and
support customers' product testing requirements.
"The new technical center, which will include a High Power Test Lab,
will be relocated from our Des Plaines, Illinois, facility. It reflects
Littelfuse's continuing focus on research and development," said Dan
Stanek, Director of Business Development. "Our presence at the research
park will allow Littelfuse to leverage the skills and knowledge of
faculty and students, as well as gain direct access to University
resources," added Stanek.
Littelfuse's global lab capabilities include overcurrent and overvoltage
testing, as well as material analysis and reliability testing. These
in-house capabilities accelerate new product development efforts and
ensure performance and regulatory compliance of customer designs.
As part of the transition, the POWR-GARD® engineering team will move
from the company's Arcola, Illinois, facility to the Research Park.
"Establishment of a technical center linked to a top-tier university
supports Littelfuse's mission to maintain our leadership position in the
circuit protection industry," said Gordon Hunter, Chairman, President
and Chief Executive Officer.
Ranked among the top five electrical engineering schools in the nation,
the University of Illinois established the Research Park 10 years ago to
attract high-tech companies as residents and encourage
university-industry collaboration. The Research Park is now home to 66
companies, including Qualcomm, Caterpillar, Yahoo, Abbott Laboratories
and John Deere.
