Sep. 22, 2009 (Business Wire) -- Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. (ASCI), maker of ActiveBatch® job scheduling software and other solutions that enhance Windows™, UNIX, Linux and OpenVMS systems, today announced that ExpressJet Holdings, Inc., parent company of one of the world’s largest regional and charter airline operators, selected ActiveBatch to automate its key applications and processing tasks. ExpressJet is using ActiveBatch to automate a number of functions that in the past were handled manually, especially those involving the company’s Lawson Software S3 Enterprise Management suite.

By selecting ActiveBatch, one of the best-known job scheduling and workload automation solutions, ExpressJet is able to create efficiencies for many data processing, monitoring and reporting tasks. “Our Lawson system reaches into virtually every back office function of ExpressJet, from Accounts Payables and HR to datamart maintenance and archiving,” said Arthur Thum, Director of IT Business Automation for ExpressJet Holdings. “ActiveBatch has already proved itself by scheduling and running routine functions, processing jobs in Lawson, LBI and Process Flow as well as among vendors and external systems, and by monitoring performance and tracking results for later auditing and analysis.”

Prior to its selection of ActiveBatch, ExpressJet was employing a combination of simple scheduling tools. “Many applications offer basic scheduling capabilities,” Thum noted, “but by adopting ActiveBatch, we’re able to plan, run, manage and audit tasks through one centralized system, instead of a number of isolated and disconnected applications and systems.”

ActiveBatch, currently available in Version 7, is a versatile and powerful enterprise application for Windows, UNIX, Linux, z/OS, and OpenVMS platforms. The solution uniquely adds strategic business value by automating operations in real-time for improved IT operations throughout an organization.

Deployed at enterprises in 36 countries, ActiveBatch enables users to automate and centrally manage jobs and workflows across multiple and disparate computing platforms, applications and databases. Version 7 adds to these capabilities by offering a dynamic Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and related Web Services tools to support internal and external Web Services.

Thum states that ActiveBatch is helping ExpressJet’s IT workers be more efficient. “Because we’ve automated our manual processes, we’re reducing errors, which improves our back-office productivity and ensures that services levels are met. Data is on time as well, which means our IT staff can concentrate on improving our departmental performance—and our user community benefits through increased efficiency,” he said.
