Launched in 2002, the Corporate Equality Index is the HRC Foundation’s annual report card and has become a roadmap and benchmarking tool for U.S. businesses in the evolving field of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality in the workplace. Employers are rated on their treatment of LGBT employees, consumers and investors on a scale of 0 to 100 percent, with top-rated businesses designated by the HRC as “Best Places to Work.”
