Sep. 28, 2009 (Business Wire) -- NCI, Inc. (NASDAQ:NCIT), a leading provider of information technology (IT), engineering, and professional services and solutions to U.S. Federal Government agencies, is pleased to announce a task order award with a value of $6.4 million. The Fort Bragg Network Enterprise Center (NEC) IT Support Services task order is new work for NCI with a period of performance of September 2009 through September 2010. This competitively awarded task order complements several recent task orders supporting the Fort Bragg installation.
Awarded through the ITES-2S contract, this task order provides for support of the U.S. Army Signal NEC in support of its on-site communications and network support services. The primary focus for the NEC is providing LandWarNet access and protection to the expeditionary forces based at Fort Bragg. The NEC provides direct and indirect IT support for more than 60,000 customers located in more than 2,100 facilities to include Simmons Army Airfield, Camp MacKall and Pope Air Force Base as well as deployed forces.
Fort Bragg is the Army’s largest installation in population and is growing. The installation is the home to the U.S. Army’s Premier Contingency Forces, including: Headquarters (HQ), XVIII Airborne Corps; HQ, Army Special Operations Command; and HQ, Joint Special Operations Command which serve every Combatant Commander. These three-star commands are postured for rapid worldwide deployment by air, sea, and land. Other significant tenants include: the 82d Airborne Division; the U.S. Army Special Forces Command; the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center & School; the U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command; and the 1st Theater Support Command. Fort Bragg supports more than 48,000 military personnel, employs more than 20,000 civilian/contractor personnel, and serves a daytime population in excess of 80,000. In addition, under the Base Realignment and Closure Act (BRAC), HQ, U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) and HQ, U.S. Army Reserve Command (USARC) are scheduled to be relocated from Fort McPherson in the Atlanta, Georgia, area, to Fort Bragg over the next two years.
