Luminex Corporation Hosts Seventh Annual Planet xMAP Europe

Sep. 29, 2009 (Business Wire) -- Luminex Corporation (NASDAQ: LMNX), the worldwide leader in multiplexed solutions, today announced that it will host Planet xMAP Europe 2009, its annual European multiplexing technology symposium, October 7-8, 2009, at Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. The program for Planet xMAP Europe 2009 includes workshops, presentations, discussion groups, scientific posters and networking events featuring scientists and researchers from around the world who are performing groundbreaking work in clinical diagnostics and life science research using Luminex’s xMAP® multiplexing technology platform.

“This event is a prime opportunity for researchers and scientists to assemble and share their knowledge on the innovative ways in which they are applying Luminex’s xMAP technology in their respective fields,” said Paul C. Planet xMAP Europe 2009 will feature two days of presentations and with six focused session options.

Day One of Planet xMAP Europe 2009, Wednesday, 7 October, will focus on Pathogen Detection, Immunology-Monitoring and HLA-Human Genetics.

The morning session will include the following presentations:

  • Prof. Maurizio Ferrari, Hospital San Raffaelle—“Present and Future of Diagnostic Testing”
  • Dr. Ray Borrow, Head of Vaccine Evaluation Unit Health Protection Agency North West, Manchester Laboratory, Manchester Royal Infirmary—“Microbial Antibody Testing-The Power of Multiplexing”
  • Dr. Jutta Bachmann, Bachmann Consulting—“The Potential of Multiplex Diagnostics”
  • Patrick Balthrop, CEO of Luminex Corporation—“Luminex Update: Next Generation of Multiplexing”

The afternoon sessions will feature three separate tracks focused on, Pathogen Detection, Immunology-Monitoring, and HLA- Human Genetics.

Day Two of Planet xMAP Europe 2009, Thursday, 8 October, will focus on Proteomics, Gene Expression and Newborn Screening
