Claiborne P. Deming Named Senior Advisor to TPH Partners

Sep. 30, 2009 (Business Wire) -- TPH Partners announced that Claiborne P. Deming has joined as a Senior Advisor to the energy middle-market private equity fund. Deming, 55, joins Frank Kalman, Dick Lewis, Steve Shapiro and Joel V. Staff as a Senior Advisor. The effort, which is chaired by Joe B. Foster, focuses on equity investments in the upstream, oilfield service and midstream space.

Foster in making the announcement. “His experience in guiding independents as well as his industry knowledge as Chairman of the National Petroleum Council makes him a great addition as we continue to acquire and build companies in the energy space. The Senior Advisors for the Houston-based energy private equity fund serve in an advisory capacity, working with the fund’s investment team to source and vet investment opportunities as well as provide guidance on operational efforts.

Deming served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Murphy Oil Corporation from 1994 until the end of 2008, a firm he first joined in 1979. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Murphy Oil Corporation and chairman of the Executive Committee, and is the current Chairman of the National Petroleum Council. He is a member of the Vanderbilt University Board of Trust and is a member of the Jefferson Scholars Selection Committee of the University of Virginia. He is also a Director of the American Petroleum Institute and a member of the American Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Association and the Louisiana Bar Association. Deming graduated cum laude with a BA in 1976 and earned his juris doctorate in 1979 from Tulane University.
