HOUSTON, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Chemical Market Associates, Inc. (CMAI) announces new leadership regarding CMAI's global consulting activities surrounding Market Advisory Services for World Methanol and other Syngas Chemicals. Dewey W. Johnson has joined CMAI and becomes the new Global Business Director of Syngas Chemicals. Beginning immediately, Dewey will lead CMAI into an expanding global future for this important sector of CMAI's Market Advisory Practices, applying his 30 years of industry experience. Primary to Dewey's initial responsibilities is CMAI's well established Methanol Consulting Service, including the Weekly Methanol Market Report, the World Methanol Analysis, the World Methanol Cost Study and the widely attended CMAI World Methanol Conference. Dewey will lead a global methanol and derivatives consulting team, with James Xie based in Shanghai focusing on Asia and Nigel Suttie based in London focusing on Europe and the Middle East.

Since 1979, Dewey has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility and authority in strategic design and commercial management for Eastman Chemical Company, most recently serving as Commercial Development Director- Eastman/ TX Energy Gasification Project. Obviously, coal and/or pet coke gasification to chemicals such as methanol is a familiar topic for Dewey, and I am sure that he will apply his vast experience as we further develop our global capabilities and services in this regard. In various other roles, Dewey gained diverse petrochemicals experience in a wide range of assignments such as: Eastman's Director of Global Procurement for Polyester Raw Materials, Business Strategy and Market Intelligence Manager, and Manager of Process Engineering (to name a few). Dewey holds a Master of Science, Environmental Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute University; an MBA from East Tennessee State University; and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Technological University.
