Oct. 6--Want a look into the nation's economic future?

Need a better handle on where your business sector is headed?

Wish you knew what to do today, tomorrow and next year with your business resources?

Alan Beaulieu, senior analyst, economist and a principal with the Institute for Trend Research, will provide his answers to those questions during a morning presentation in Vancouver on Monday.

After hearing Beaulieu, speak earlier this year, Ron Frederiksen, owner and president of RSV Construction Services Inc. in Vancouver, decided that others would benefit from the same presentation. That's why Frederiksen is a major sponsor of Beaulieu's workshop, "Business Success in the Emerging Economy."

"Everyone is hunkered down right now trying to make sense of the economy," Frederiksen said. "Business owners in Clark County need to have the confidence to create jobs and expand. Alan provides data that appears to be unrelated, but he brings it together and offers recommendations for specific business sectors. He's been right 96 percent of the time."

Beaulieu has been a consultant and business adviser to companies throughout the U.S., Europe, and Japan since 1990 on how to plan for and prosper through the business cycle. He is a regular source for such news organizations as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Barron's, USA Today, Reuters and CBS Radio, among others. He offers workshops and economic analysis seminars across the U.S.

His Intitute for Trend Research of Boscawen, N.H., produces a monthly subscriber-based economic report, called EcoTrends, offering analysis and forecasts using 47 economic and market indicators.

Vistage, a national organization for chief executive officers with chapters throughout the country, has used Beaulieu as a resource, said Frederiksen, who is a Vistage member.

"He talks about leading indicators, retail sales, new orders ... he's looking at the whole economy," Frederiksen said.

Other sponsors are the Columbia River Economic Development Council, iQ Credit Union and Vistage.
