READING, England, Oct. 7, 2009 (PR Newswire Europe) --
Acision, the world's leading messaging company, today announced that
Nedjma (Wataniya Telecom Algeria), a leading multimedia and GSM operator in
Algeria, handled more than 30 million text messages over their network during
the three day Eid el-Fitr period. Acision is the supplier of Nedjma's SMSC
which enabled Nedjma's six million subscribers to send seasonal greetings to
friends and family via text, with message delivery peaking on the first day
of Eid.
Imed Soussou, chief technical officer at Nedjma (WTA), said: "The
exchange of text messages was handled by Acision with absolutely no
disruption over the Eid period, allowing all our subscribers to reliably
communicate with friends and family via SMS. For Nedjma, the Acision SMSC
stands out for its feature rich services, robustness, and ability to scale up
to support a heavy surge in messaging during special events and holiday
periods such as Eid el-Fitr, Eid el-Adha and New Year."
"At Acision, we understand the importance of times in the year when
people will want to send multiple text messages simultaneously and our
solutions are designed to support these peaks whenever they happen. The
Acision SMSC gives operators the confidence that they can meet the messaging
demands of their customers, especially during periods when the increase in
text messaging cannot be determined," said Sherif Hamoudah, vice president
and general manager for Middle East, Africa and Pakistan.
