Spook or Be Spooked. Lowe's Helps You Get Ready for Both ThisHalloween
Oct. 13, 2009 (Business Wire) -- Howl into Halloween knowing you have the neighborhood’s hippest haunted house, the one ghouls of all ages want to call home. And, if by chance, tricksters find your house first, we have some quick fixes for that, too.
Halloween’s home at Lowe’s
“Scary. Very scary.” That’s what your visitors will say when they see what you’ve conjured up. Park an air-blown hearse by the driveway to lure the unsuspecting visitors to your home. Greet those guests at your scare-tastic front entryway where a life-size grim reaper shares his glowing lantern with you. Then, as your visitor peers into his freaky red eyes – shriek! – let a big black widow spider drop down on their head!
You can find countless way to make your favorite ghouls giggle -- at prices that won’t scare you. Imagine the fright factor of a crawling hand on the porch rail (Item# 122300, $9.98); a talking head beside your pumpkin (Item# 122103, $19.98); and haunted rocks along their escape path (Item# 309873, $11.98 each). If you’re fiendishly creative, go to http://www.lowescreativeideas.com/Halloween_2009.aspx for free ideas from the experts at Lowe’s Creative Ideas. We love the Glowing Ghoul Eyes, House Ghost and yummy Popcorn Ball projects, and you’ll find many more.
More trick than treat?
Cleaning up after all the antics can be easier than you think.
- ‘TP’d’? – Waking up to toilet paper in your tree branches can be one of the silliest, most difficult, Halloween tricks to remove. Use a tree branch trimmer to lift or loosen the toilet paper. Add a piece of duct tape to the end of the trimmer to remove the peskiest pieces of paper.
- Eggs – Raw eggs, a mixture of proteins and fats, can easily stain the siding of your home, so it’s important to remove eggs quickly. First, try a high-pressure water hose to remove any egg residue. If the eggs still cling to your home, scrub them away with a solution of Gain laundry detergent (Item# 255730, $11.47) and warm water. (This also removes those nasty paint balls.)
- Pumpkin Pieces – Carved jack-o-lanterns look great on a stoop, but can stain driveways and sidewalks if shattered. To prevent most stains from lasting, cover the area with cat litter to absorb the residue and scrub the area with Clorox bleach (Item# 185272, $3.28) or laundry detergent and hot water, all available at Lowe’s.
