CHICAGO, Oct. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Honorable David S. Tatel, founding executive director of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights will return and give the keynote address at the organization's 40th anniversary celebration on Thursday, October 22, 2009. The reception will be held at the Kirkland & Ellis Conference Center, opening at 5:30 p.m. Judge Tatel was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit by President Bill Clinton in October 1994.

Thomas P. Sullivan, partner at Jenner & Block, will receive the Edwin A. Rothschild Award for Lifetime Achievement in Civil Rights in recognition of the significant contributions to civil rights and social justice he has made throughout his career.

The People's Law Office will be honored for its long history of significant civil rights litigation and work to expose police torture and other injustices in Chicago.

The Chicago Lawyers' Committee will recognize Wildman Harrold Allen & Dixon LLP for its support for the federal court settlement assistance program.

Susan Rosborough, of Allstate, will accept the Corporate Leadership Award. Allstate is being honored for its innovative new pro bono program.

Fitzgerald T. Bramwell of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom will be honored as the Outstanding Young Lawyer of 2009 in recognition of his contribution to the Employment Opportunity Project. "As an attorney who believes strongly in giving back to my community and in equal opportunity for all, it's a special honor for me to receive this award," said Mr. Bramwell. "This public interest work on behalf of our community is a priority for my firm's pro bono program, and the collaboration with the Chicago Lawyers' Committee has been both productive and gratifying."
