New York Breakfast Helped Seal the Deal

A New York breakfast with Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness helped persuade Wall Street's corporate leaders to invest in Northern Ireland.

New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) chief executive Duncan Niederauer was in Belfast to unveil his plan to bring 400 hi-tech jobs to the region.

In 2007 Mr Niederauer hosted Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness in New York.

"I had been CEO for about 15 minutes when I went to my first event," he said.

"It was a breakfast on a tour that Deputy First Minister McGuinness and First Minister Paisley were conducting in the US. They got to stop in at the NYSE and we struck up a friendship almost immediately."
