Southern Company Appoints New Board Member

(Source: Datamonitor)trackingUS-based power utility Southern Company has appointed Henry Clark III to its board of directors. Mr Clark is currently a senior advisor with Lexicon Partners, an independent corporate finance advisory firm.

Prior to Lexicon Partners, Mr Clark was group chairman of global power and utilities at Citigroup from 2001 to 2009. His work experience includes numerous capital markets transactions of debt, equity, bank loans, convertibles and securitization as well as advice in connection with mergers and acquisitions.

Mr Clark also has served as policy advisor to numerous clients on capital structure, cost of capital dividend strategies and various financing strategies.

In addition, he was chairperson of the Alternative Energy Task Force and recently served as chairperson of the Wall Street Advisory Group to the Edison Electric Institute.

David Ratcliffe, chairman, president and CEO of Southern Company, said: "With more than 30 years of executive experience in the global financial and the utility industries, Mr Clark brings a wealth of experience to this role. His knowledge and insights will be valuable assets to Southern Company and its board of directors."
