Oct. 20--TOKYO -- Seven Bank has added credit and cash cards of the
Discover brand to the list of overseas-issued cards that can withdraw cash
from the bank's about 14,000 ATMs in Japan.
Users of Diners Club brand credit cards issued overseas also will be able
to withdraw yen from ATMs in Japan within this year, the company said.
Since July 2007, holders of overseas-issued Visa, MasterCard, American
Express, JCB and China UnionPay credit and cash cards have been able to
withdraw cash from ATMs of Seven Bank, which is a subsidiary of Seven & I
Holdings Co.
The ATMs provide spoken and written guidance in English, Chinese, Korean
and Portuguese, Seven Bank said.
The bank's prime source of earnings is charges for using ATMs installed
in Seven-Eleven convenience stores and others, which is unusual for banks.
