(Source: MARKETWIRE)trackingService providers around the world can improve their competitive advantage and provide more personalized and unified communications across any network or device thanks to the latest consumer voice and multimedia solutions provided by Nortel(1) (OTCBB: NRTLQ) Carrier VoIP and Application Solutions (CVAS). These innovative CVAS solutions will be demonstrated at Nortel's Supercomm booth (#2120) in Chicago this week.

Nortel's IP Powered Home consumer voice and multimedia solution equips service providers to compete more effectively and significantly improve the way people communicate by providing advanced SIP features such as personalized call routing, call screening and fixed-mobile convergence integrated into carrier subscriber portals. These features help boost service provider's ability to compete and are backed by Nortel's strength in providing industry-leading carrier-grade reliability to more than 350 service providers across the globe.

"Consumers want more personalized control of their communications through web portals, convergence of mobile and fixed services into a single account, and smartphone enhancements like VoIP, instant messaging and presence," said Joe McGarvey, principal analyst, IP Services Infrastructure, Current Analysis. "Nortel's CVAS consumer solutions and leadership in carrier-grade reliability help service providers to deliver a more ubiquitous and reliable service that also give subscribers the freedom to take their communications with them across any network or device."

Nortel's consumer solution allow subscribers to be contacted via one number for all of their phones and devices without having to change their phone number or ask their friends and family to update their address books. Subscribers can also program their devices to identify callers by setting unique ring tones and "announce" the incoming caller by specifying which phone should ring based on the caller and their location. For example, if the subscriber is at home when the call comes in, they can program the network to ring the landline instead of the mobile device, which allows the user to offload mobile minutes to their landline.

"In today's highly competitive environment, service providers need partners like Nortel CVAS to arm them with innovative, carrier-grade solutions that allow them to compete with new players, boost revenue potential and subscriber loyalty," said Samih Elhage, president, CVAS, Nortel.
