Oct. 22--A decision on what advanced water metering system to use will be made tonight by Enid City Commission.
The new system will result in replacement of 90 percent of the existing water meters in the city.
The decision will be made at the commission meeting sche-duled for 6:30 p.m. at the city administration building, 401 W. Gar-riott. City staff recommendation is to award the contract to National Metering Services, which had the low bid of $6,813,827.06.
The project's scheduled bid date was last Friday, and a prebid meeting was held Sept. 29 with 16 contractors registered as eligible bidders.
The new meters will contain radio-controlled meter reading systems. According to city officials, the system will provide improved accuracy of water use and allow for direct reading of meters by a radio system to the customer service department. The new system eventually will eliminate manual meter reading.
Also during their regular meeting, commissioners will:
--Discuss locations for a no-leash dog park at either Government Springs Park South or Crosslin Park. Staff recommendation is to choose one or both locations.
--Hear an update on the general obligation bond bridge construction project by Geoff Covalt, of Tetra Tech, project engineer.
--Award a bid to create a water park at Hoover Park, similar to the Splashpad at Gore Park.
During the expanded study session, commissioners will:
--Hear a presentation about ethics training by Mike Vandenburg, Okmulgee city attorney.
--Hear a presentation by Wind Energy Consulting and Contracting.
--Hear a presentation on a trail system from Broadway and Southeast Railroad east to University Boulevard.
--Discuss the city capital improvement program.
The study session begins at 4:30 p.m.
