Oct. 22, 2009 (United Press International) -- U.S. consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble has held discussions on buying part of Sara Lee's household products division, sources close to the talks said.
Sara Lee agreed to sell its personal products line to Unilever (NYSE:UL) in September for $1.87 billion, TheStreet.com (NASDAQ:TSCM) reported Thursday. At the time, the company said that its household products line had also received "significant interest" from suitors.
Sara Lee and P&G (NYSE:PG) declined to comment on the possible sale, which is said to involve pursuit of Sara Lee's air care product line, which includes Ambi Pur air fresheners.
Sources said Sara Lee would prefer to sell its entire household products division in one shot, TheStreet.com said.
