With Free On Demand Service, Time Warner Cable delivers on promise to provide its Digital Cable customers instant access to top-rated Univision content whenever they want

NEW YORK, Oct. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC) and Univision Communications, Inc., today announce the official launch of Lo Mejor On Demand(TM) (LMOD), Time Warner Cable's first Hispanic Free On Demand (FOD) channel. Through LMOD, Time Warner Digital Cable customers now have 24/7 instant access to the "creme-de-la-creme" of Spanish-language programming from top networks including Univision, TeleFutura and Galavision.

Today, with a first-of-its kind event in New York City's entertainment hub, Times Square, Time Warner Cable and Univision -- two leading entertainment and media companies in the United States -- connect with the needs and wants of consumers on a much higher level by celebrating the launch of LMOD. For a full day, the public will enjoy live broadcasts of their favorite Univision Network shows, including the morning show Despierta America (Wake-Up America), and entertainment shows Escandalo TV (ShowBiz TV) and El Gordo y La Flaca (The Scoop and The Skinny).

"At Time Warner Cable, our mission is to give our customers control in ways that are simple and easy, empowering Hispanic consumers to stay connected to the people and things that matter most to them," said Sam Howe, Chief Marketing Officer for Time Warner Cable. "Lo Mejor On Demand offers Hispanics the content they're most passionate about -- from the comfort of their home. We are confident that, through our partnership with Univision, this unique entertainment solution will encourage customers around the country to celebrate their passion for the rich Hispanic culture anytime they want."

Recent Time Warner Cable research revealed that more than 60 percent of Hispanic consumers preferred original Spanish-language content, but more than 63 percent of Spanish-dominant and 51 percent of bilingual Hispanic consumers had not watched a Free On Demand show or movie within the last month. To help fill this gap, Time Warner Cable partnered with Univision to offer an extensive library of premium Spanish-language content to their Time Warner Digital Cable costumers, at no additional cost.

"The partnership between Univision and Time Warner Cable allows us to bring our viewers more of the entertainment that they love, when they want it," said Tonia O'Connor, Executive Vice President, Distribution Sales and Marketing for Univision.
