Oct. 23--The Northside Neighborhood House's fundraising event, Taste of North Shore, Sample of Southside & the Not-So-Silent Auction, will be held Thursday at The Mill.

The event raises money for the organization's ongoing efforts to provide assistance and education programs to area residents.

Rachel Gammon, Northside Neighborhood House executive director, said clientele has been increasing in recent months. The agency provides direct assistance and education programs to clients.

"The number of neighbors who have emergency needs for utilities, food and prescription medications is growing," she said. "Even those neighbors who thought they would never have to ask for help are coming to us seeking assistance, and this fundraiser helps to allow us to offer them a hand up, not a hand out."

Restaurants and caterers participating in the event are Tremont Tavern, Bluewater Grill, FoodWorks, Aquarium Foods, 212 Market, Between the Bridges Cafe, Bi-Lo Signal Mountain, Swiss-Am Fine Catering, Modern Dave's Cafe, Events With Taste, Buffalo Wild Wings, Porter's/Read House, Alleia, The Big Table, Subway on Frazier Avenue, St. John's/Meeting Place, The Public House and Lupi's Pizza.
