ITC Ltd
The consumer goods and agri-business segments helped ITC Ltd record an income of Rs 4,345 crore in the second quarter of 2009-10, up 13 per cent from the Rs 3,862 crore posted in the same period last year. Net profit was up 26 per cent at Rs 1,009 crore (Rs 803 crore). Its shares were up nearly five per cent on the NSE at Rs 260.
NTPC LTD
NTPC Ltd has recorded a 12 per cent increase in income at Rs 10,783 crore in the July- September 2009 period from Rs 9,661 crore in the same period last year. Net profit was up two per cent to Rs 2,152 crore (Rs 2,111 crore). Its shares were up one per cent on the NSE at Rs 214.95.
BHEL
BHEL's sales for the quarter ended September 30, 2009 were up 24 per cent at Rs 6,625 crore from Rs 5,343 crore a year ago and its profit after tax was up 39 per cent at Rs 858 crore from Rs 616 crore in the same period last year. Its shares closed down by a little over one per cent on the NSE at Rs 2,382.
DR REDDY'S LABORATORIES
Dr Reddy's Laboratories' net profit for the quarter ending September 2009 more than doubled to Rs 197 crore from Rs 91 crore in the same period last year. Its income was up 16 per cent to Rs 1,073 crore from Rs 922 crore in the year ago period. The company's shares were up 6.35 per cent on the NSE at Rs 960.
