KABUL, Oct. 25, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- An American soldier worked under NATO command in Afghanistan lost his life in a mine explosion, a press release of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said Sunday.
"One U.S. service member was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in southern Afghanistan Oct. 24," the press release added.
However, it did not disclose the exact place of the incident.
U.S. soldiers serving in Afghanistan with the framework of NATO- led forces are mostly stationed in the restive southern and eastern regions.
Conflicts and violence have claimed at least 423 foreign soldiers, with 255 Americans, so far this year in war-torn Afghanistan.
