BEIJING, Oct. 26, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- China's major clean energy developer the ENN Group has signed an agreement with US energy supplier Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK PRA) (NYSE:DUK) to register a joint venture in the United States with the aim of becoming service provider of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in the area, the company announced recently.
The two sides will have a 50-50 JV, which will be manufacturing solar PV stations, and building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) projects in North America.
Cai Hongqiu, chief executive officer of ENN Solar Energy, said the ENN Group expects to commercialize its technology on solar PV modules and integrated systems in the United States.
"We have our eye on the vast demand of the US market and the government's stimulus policies," said Cai.
Currently, the ENN Group is able to produce 70-MW silicon thin-film solar modules of 5.7 square meters. In the future, the company will have 500 MW production capacity of thin-film solar modules, and aims to internationalize its operations.
Earlier this year, the ENN Group and Duke Energy agreed to cooperate in commercialized solar PV projects, clean-coal technology, biomass energy, natural gas, smart-grid technology, energy efficiency and carbon-capture technologies using algae.
