BEIJING, Oct. 26, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- Sohu. (NASDAQ:SOHU) com (SOHU.NASDAQ) has just released its financial results for the third quarter of this year, reporting a non-GAAP net income of 51.6 million dollars, up 21 percent year on year.

However, the figure excludes deductions pertaining to its non-controlling interest in Changyou.com (NASDAQ:CYOU) (CYOU.NASDAQ), which was previously a business unit under Sohu but later carved out as a separate company and for a Nasdaq listing on April 7, 2009.

After the deduction, Sohu's net income fell to 37.4 million dollars, or 0.96 dollar per fully diluted share, down 14.7 percent year on year.

In the quarter ended September 30, 2009, the company realized total revenue of 136.6 million dollars, up 13 percent year on year. This included a record high 68.7 million dollars from online games, representing a 26 percent year on year increase, thanks to the growing popularity of Changyou's flagship game, TLBB.

Aggregated registered accounts for Changyou's games surged 46 percent year on year to 75.1 million. The aggregated average revenue per active paying account (ARPU) for Changyou's games moved up 7 percent to 190 yuan; still "affordable" in Changyou's opinion.

For the fourth quarter of 2009, Sohu forecasts its revenue between 134.5 million and 138.5 million dollars.
