Monday, October 26, 2009 10:12 AM

NEW YORK, Oct. 26, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- Wall Street posted gains in early trading Monday, as investors were optimistic about a fresh round of earnings reports.

The energy and insurance sectors will take center stage this week with ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) and Exxon Mobil (NYSE:XOM) as well as MetLife (NYSE:MET PRA) (NYSE:MET PRB) (NYSE:MEU) (NYSE:MLG) (NYSE:MET) scheduled to release earnings.

Investors also awaited the Commerce Department's report on third-quarter gross domestic product, the broadest measure of the economy's health.

Economists predict the economy grew at an annual rate of 3.2 percent in the quarter, which would mark the first quarter of growth after four straight declines. The report is due out on Thursday.

The Dow Jones rose 43.00 to 10,015.18. Broader indexes went higher. The Standard & Poor's 500 index climbed 4.88 to 1,084.48 and the Nasdaq rose 13.32 to 2,167.79.
