HSN Inc. vice president John McDevitt confirmed in a statement the airborne wireless service provider Row 44 Inc. and the online media company JiWire are working together to offer the SkyTown Center network, the Chicago Tribune said Monday.

"This innovative new platform is a great opportunity for us to raise our brand awareness while generating revenue from a highly desirable customer base," McDevitt said.

The companies have not detailed which airlines will use the new wireless service, which is expected to be offered starting Nov. 1.

JiWire and Row 44 have confirmed the Home Shopping Network and the retailer SkyMall will be among the content providers on the network. Live television and access to games will also be included on the network.

The Tribune said while access to SkyTown Center will be free to airline passengers, those travelers likely will have to pay a fee if they choose to navigate away from the advertisement-supported network.
