Previous winners of the Spirit of St. Louis Technology award include Monsanto Co., Express Scripts, Graybar, Edward Jones, Emerson, Peabody Energy, Sigma-Aldrich Corp. and MasterCard Worldwide.

Savvis provides a broad portfolio of IT infrastructure services to enterprises globally. These range from simple colocation hosting, to complex managed and virtualized utility services, to its next-generation enterprise cloud infrastructure platform dubbed Project Spirit.

Cloud solutions are enabling the delivery of standard IT infrastructure resources, such as server capacity, storage and compute power, to businesses via the Internet. Companies deploying Cloud solutions can now purchase their IT resources on a pay-as-they-need basis and get services delivered faster and more cost-efficiently.

Project Spirit takes its name from Charles Lindbergh's famous aircraft. Just as Lindbergh's flight broke new ground and contributed to launching the commercial aviation industry, cloud computing is beginning to transform the way IT services are purchased, deployed and delivered to businesses and consumers globally.

"We are honored to receive the 2009 Spirit of St. Louis Technology award," said Phil Koen, Savvis chief executive officer. "Cloud infrastructure solutions are moving us into a different world of computing and this shift bodes well for companies like Savvis and the St. Louis area. We look forward to continuing our focus on innovation and growth as the region attracts new technology-centric businesses."

With nearly 800 employees based in St. Louis, and 2,200 globally, Savvis is dedicated to the communities where it does business. At the corporate headquarters in St. Louis, Savvis is an active participant working closely with organizations such as Innovate St. Louis, the RCGA, the Regional Business Council, the United Way, the St. Louis IT Coalition, the Youth Technology & Education Center, and the Girls Scouts of the USA.

In addition, Savvis has developed philanthropic outreach programs focused on supplying the community with the same innovation and technology it supplies its customers.
