Con-way Inc. Vice President of Governmental Affairs Randy Mullett will testify on behalf of the American Trucking Associations (ATA) at a congressional hearing about distracted driving on Thurs., Oct. 29. The hearing -- "Addressing the Problem of Distracted Driving" -- will be held in 2167 Rayburn House Office Building at 9:30 a.m.
Mullett will testify before the Subcommittee on Highway and Transit of the House of Representatives Committee of Transportation and Infrastructure that some new technology, particularly handheld electronic devices have increased the potential for driver distraction among all motor vehicle drivers. ATA and its member carriers support a ban on the use of electronic hand-held devices to read, write or send a text message while operating a motor vehicle.
