First Intelligence Community CIO to Detail Need for Cyber Standards to Protect Infrastructure
Oct. 28, 2009 (PR Newswire) --
HOUSTON, TEXAS, October 28, 2009 - With some 90 percent of critical U.S. infrastructure in the hands of the private sector, it is imperative to develop standards for operating and protecting the cyberspace that underpins it, according to Retired Major General Dale Meyerrose (USAF), vice president and general manager for Cyberspace Solutions at Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS).
Meyerrose will detail the top cyber issues affecting government, industry and academia during an address at Rice University's James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy, at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3. The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session regarding specific cyberspace issues facing energy, healthcare and financial industries - which have a significant presence in the Houston area.
Having served as the first chief information officer of the Intelligence Community, Meyerrose is a strong advocate of the need to make cyberspace a trusted domain for both private and government sectors. He believes that priorities for cyber will soon be on par with the nation's defense and intelligence missions.
