The Andhra Pradesh Government on Thursday decided to constitute a special court here to take up the trial of the Satyam (NYSE:SAY) Computer scam case.
The Cabinet, which met here today, approved a request by the High Court and the Deputy Inspector General, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Hyderabad, seeking the constitution of a special court exclusively to deal with the Rs 7,136-crore scam.
The premier investigation agency cited that the case’s complexity involved 433 witnesses, 1,532 documents and 62 material objects.
The charge sheet itself runs into 65,000 pages, requiring special attention, it contended.
The charge sheet in the Satyam case was filed before the 14th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Hyderabad on April 7, 2009.
