Oct. 30, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- Sinopec (NYSE:SNP) posts 16.52bln yuan of net profit in Q3

BEIJING, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) 锝– Sinopec (SNP.NYSE; 600028.SH) on Th ursday posted net profit of 16.52 billion yuan in its third quarter re sults, skyrocketing 123.9 percent year on year, while the figure in th e first nine months was 49.71 billion yuan, representing a growth of 2 30.3 percent over the same period a year earlier.

The company's earnings per share (EPS) was at 0.573 yuan in the third quarter.

Sinopec registered crude oil throughput of 134.39 million tons i n the first three quarters, up 2.99 percent year on year, while produc t oil output at 83.63 million tons during the same period, up 3.36 per cent over that of in the same period a year earlier.

The gasoline output reached 25.57 million tons in the first thre e quarters, up 17.56 percent year on year, while diesel output stood a t 50.56 million tons, down 4.98 percent compared with the same period in 2008.

Wang Xinhua, the company's chief executive officer (CFO), said t hat the company's flagship Puguang gasfield output is to reach 4 billi on cubic meters in 2010 and 8 billion cubic meters in 2011.

According to him, the company's operational losses appeared at r efining sector in September in 2009 due to rising international crude oil prices during the month.

The company CFO also forecasted that Sinopec's October profitabi lity is to equal to that of in September.
