Durect, a US-based specialty pharmaceutical company, has reported a net loss of $5.54 million, or $0.07 per share, for the third quarter ended September 30, 2009, compared to a net loss of $9.16 million, or $0.11 per share, for the third quarter ended September 30, 2008.
Total revenues were $8.38 million for the third quarter of 2009, compared to $6.63 million for the same quarter of 2008.
Net loss for the nine months ended September 30, 2009 was $21.7 million, or $0.26 per share, compared to a net loss of $25.56 million, or $0.33 per share, for the nine months ended September 30, 2008.
Total revenues were $19.42 million for the nine months ended September 30, 2009, compared to $19.38 million, for the prior-year period.
James Brown, president and CEO of Durect, said: "Since our last earnings report, we have continued to advance our development programs and business activities, including completing enrollment in our Posidur Phase II shoulder study, entering into a new collaboration with Orient Pharma that will allow us to generate Phase II data for a new drug candidate for the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder market and a long term excipient supply agreement with King Pharmaceuticals with respect to Remoxy."
