Friday, October 30, 2009 3:22 PM

The Minneapolis Star Tribune said Friday the confiscated recliner used by Proctor resident Dennis LeRoy Anderson in a DWI incident on Aug. 31, 2008, has already received dozens of bids.

Anderson, 61, pleaded guilty this month to charges he crashed the motorized lounge chair into a car after leaving a bar with a blood-alcohol content of 0.29 percent.

Anderson was sentenced to 180 days in jail for the incident, but that sentence was stayed in return for two years of probation, completion of a chemical dependency assessment, random testing and 30 days of electronic monitoring.

The Star Tribune said online bidding on the chair had reached $2,125. The eBay auction is scheduled to end next Tuesday.

The motorized La-Z-Boy can reach speeds as fast as 20 miles per hour thanks to a converted gasoline-powered lawnmower engine and comes equipped with a steering wheel, headlights and even cup holders.
