“We plan to launch similar clinics in 22 places including five abroad,” Ms Sangeetha Reddy, Executive Director, Apollo Hospitals, told newspersons after the inauguration of the clinic here.
The healthcare major plans to set up clinics at in Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Yemen and Kuwait, in the next couple of weeks.
The clinics at Jubilee Hills, Hyderaguda, Secunderabad, and Kanchanbagh in Hyderabad, Karimnagar and Kakinada were operational from Sunday. Each of the knee clinics would be manned by trained orthopaedic surgeons supported by a team of nurses, rehabilitation specialists and nutrition therapists.
Stem cell lab
Apollo had also set up a stem cell research lab with Rs 4 crore in Hyderabad for peripheral vascular diseases, knee cartilage and two other areas.
“The process has been started with two patients at the lab,” she said, adding that sports medicine will be integrated with the knee centres soon.
