Company's New CTO Addresses Carrier Ethernet at Light Reading'sEthernet Expo Americas 2009

Nov. 2, 2009 (Business Wire) -- NTT America, a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) and a Tier-1 global IP network services provider, today announced the company’s CTO and vice president of IP development for the Global IP Network business unit, Doug Junkins, will speak at Light Reading's Ethernet Expo Americas 2009, a premier event covering the topic of carrier Ethernet network technologies and services in North America. As part of one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world and a leading provider of carrier class Ethernet, NTT America can leverage the international business, geographic, technology and financial assets of the NTT Communications Global IP Network to help service providers, large content providers and enterprises use carrier Ethernet network technology to cost effectively and productively deploy next generation services and applications to support growth and additional revenue opportunities. Mr. Junkins will speak at the event on November 4, 2009 at 9 a.m. EST at the Hilton New York in New York City.

Today, Mr. Junkins was named CTO of NTT America. In this role he is responsible for the company’s technology procurement strategy and vendor selection, industry relations and standardization efforts, and overall product portfolio coordination across both the Global IP Network and Enterprise Solutions business units of NTT America.

During Ethernet Expo Americas 2009, Mr. Junkins will offer his perspective on next-gen Ethernet wholesale and retail services: abundant bandwidth, abundant choice. With years of experience in network architecture, tool development and peering relations, Mr. Junkins will offer his expertise on how abundant bandwidth and abundant choice offered by next-gen carrier Ethernet is transforming the data communications landscape, unleashing business productivity, and helping enterprises become more flexible in dealing with today’s on-demand business challenges. He will discuss the latest trends related to: 1) expanding geographical reach and coverage density; 2) providing new connectivity and access options; 3) delivering solutions tailored for different industry verticals; and 4) inter-carrier cooperation to drive Ethernet to more locations and ensure reliable end-to-end service performance.

As new subsea cables reach out to create diverse paths and connect underserved areas of the world, and WiMAX services, Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployments and national broadband plans provide increased options for connectivity, more people and businesses are coming online and are demanding high broadband connections for rich media consumption.
