McGowan is a seasoned telecommunications and technology business leader. During his career he has held senior management positions at established premier companies including VeriSign, Openwave, Silicon Graphics and Tandem Computer and has served as an entrepreneurial leader at a number of Silicon Valley start-ups.

Prior to that, as Vice President and General Manager at Openwave, McGowan revamped the sales and customer for the Americas organization to create successful consecutive quarterly growth.
