TORONTO, Nov. 3 /CNW/ -- iseemedia Inc. (TSX-V: IEE), a leading provider of Blackberry-like services to the mass mobile phone market today announced that it has begun deployment of iseemail(TM) with Syria's leading mobile network operator, MTN, with more than 3.5 million subscribers. The commercial launch is expected to be completed next month.
"We are excited about the opportunity to introduce our Blackberry-like email service in Syria," said Anthony DeCristofaro, President and CEO, iseemedia. "After extensive testing and promotion with select Nokia phones, we believe we have the optimum push email service in a market where consumers and business users alike are clamoring for mobile email. We expect to attract at least 100,000 regular subscribers in a short period of time."
iseemedia began testing its hosted service with MTN in June, 2009 and started bundling its iseemail(TM) with every Nokia e75 handset and a free one-month subscription. The resultant take up rate warranted a full-blown launch with MTN mobile customers. The new MTN Blackberry-like service will be available on a monthly subscription. iseemedia receives a percentage of each monthly subscription.
The iseemedia push email service supports Microsoft Hotmail, Google Gmail, AOL and all the local email domains including business email platforms. The service is designed to serve both consumers and enterprises. Since the Blackberry is not available in Syria, iseemail(TM) will be the only serious email option for mobile users in the country.
DeCristofaro added, "As a next step, we aim to target the MTN Group subsidiaries in 20 other countries to deploy our iseemail(TM) push email platform. By then we should be in strong position to access more than 105 million subscribers in their network."
iseemail(TM) eliminates the need for expensive data plans or high-end phones to receive emails and rich attachments on the go. The iseemail(TM) platform enables operators the opportunity to promote mobile email as a mass market solution as it provides full email functionality on nearly 100% of available devices. Users no longer need to worry about device capability and email client installation on the device. This allows operators to increase the customer base as well as the adoption of mobile email usage - both offer significant opportunities for increasing revenues.
The iseemail(TM) platform is designed to leverage operators' existing infrastructure and provides a very cost-effective yet fully featured mobile email solution even on low-end mobile devices with the basic SMS interface.
