BEIJING, Nov. 3, 2009 (Xinhua News Agency) -- Internet access via mobile phones will go neck and neck with computers in the future, and the development of mobile internet demands new consideration.
Zhou Feng, senior vice president of Netease (NASDAQ:NTES) (NTES.NASDAQ), made the above remarks on Tuesday at the 2009 China Internet High-level Annual Meeting.
Zhou predicted that the mobile internet accessed via mobile phones will outpace computer based internet thanks to improvements in mobile phone performance and larger transmission widths by operators.
The mobile internet's development demand fresh innovation since merely duplicating the products and experiences offered by computer-based internet access is no longer feasible, according to Zhou.
The mobile internet is under rapid development in China.
By the end of September, China's mobile phone users had hit 720 million, while mobile internet users reached 192 million, revealed Li Yizhong, minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), on Monday at the China Internet Conference 2009.
