Nov. 3--The Duluth Police Department has released the name of the man fatally injured in a construction accident Saturday.

Robert B. Gotschall, 31, of Mentor, Ohio, died after falling at the Texas Roadhouse construction site. He was employed by Roth Painting of Bellaire, Ohio.

The Duluth Fire Department responded to the site at 1101 Mall Drive for a trauma call at 5:41 p.m. Gotschall was found at the bottom of an interior stairway that leads to the roof, Assistant Fire Chief Eric Simonson said. He was taken by ambulance to St. Mary's Medical Center.

"They performed CPR all the way to the hospital," Simonson said.

Efforts to revive Gotschall failed, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital, Duluth Deputy Chief of Police John Beyer said.

"All the evidence at the scene was consistent with a fall," he said.

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry is investigating the accident, spokesman James Honerman said. Investigators visited the scene Monday morning.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim's family," Texas Roadhouse corporate spokesman Travis Doster said."From what we've heard it doesn't appear to be any evidence that the crew failed to follow any safety procedures or practices. It's a terrible accident."

This is the first time a worker was fatally injured on a Texas Roadhouse construction site, Doster said.

The Louisville, Ky.-based firm Buffalo Construction is the general contractor on the project. According to the firm's Web site, its current construction projects include jobs for Texas Roadhouse, Applebee's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Hardee's, Red Robin and Texas Steakhouse and Saloon. A call to Buffalo Construction for a comment on the accident was not immediately returned.

The Louisville, Ky.-based Texas Roadhouse has 330 restaurants in 46 states. The Duluth restaurant will be the second in Minnesota, with the other in Coon Rapids. The 250-seat, 7,000-square-foot Duluth restaurant is under construction south of Home Depot and the Olive Garden on Mall Drive. It is scheduled to open Jan. 25.
