Nissan Motor Co. said Wednesday it logged a group net profit of 9 billion yen for the April to September period, though down 92.9 percent from a year earlier, and trimmed its full-year net loss forecast on strong sales in China.
For the whole of fiscal 2009 through next March, Nissan now anticipates a group net loss of 40 billion yen, against an earlier projected loss of 170 billion yen.
In the first six months of the current business year, Nissan also booked an operating profit of 94.88 billion yen, down 50.5 percent from a year earlier, on sales of 3.4 trillion yen, down 30.5 percent.
For the July to September quarter, Japan's third-largest automaker returned to profit on a net balance level following three consecutive quarters of red-ink.
