QNX Powers World's Most Advanced Connected Car Concept with Next-Generation Infotainment Platform

OTTAWA, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- QNX Software Systems, a Harman International (NYSE: HAR) company and the global leader in operating systems and middleware for the in-car infotainment market, today announced that its award-winning QNX® CAR application platform is powering the ng Connect Program's LTE Connected Car concept vehicle, which demonstrates how Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G networks can potentially bring video-on-demand, Internet radio, and other wireless broadband services to the automobile. Along with Alcatel-Lucent and other leading network, consumer electronic, and content partners in the ng Connect Program, QNX participated in a technology showcase of the LTE Connected Car yesterday in New York City.

The QNX CAR application platform provides the software foundation of ng Connect's LTE Connected Car concept vehicle. The platform provides all of the car's system software and infotainment applications, including the realtime operating system, touchscreen user interfaces, streaming media players for YouTube and Pandora, navigation system with Google local search, Bluetooth and portable device connectivity, multimedia playback, handsfree integration, climate controls, Adobe Flash games, application store technology, and a virtual mechanic.
