1. China's top legislator Wu Bangguo Wednesday visited the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in Beijing and called on elite engineering experts to boost their researches on technologies for industries that are very promising to boost a sustainable economic growth. Wu, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, urged the CAE's academicians to target their researches on the world's cutting-edge studies such as low-carbon technology, bio-medicine, IT, intelligent electricity grid and neo-energy vehicles.
2. Chinese government just approved a plan to push forward reform and development of the country's supply and marketing cooperatives to advance rural economy.Supply and marketing cooperatives serve as an important platform for trading in rural areas, and help boost rural economic development, said a statement issued after an executive meeting of the State Council, or the Cabinet, Wednesday chaired by Premier Wen Jiabao.
3. Zhou Yongkang, member of Political Bureau of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Wednesday met with police chiefs in Jinggangshan, East China's Jiangxi Province. He called on Chinese police and other law enforcement organs to improve their services for the people with loyalty and commitment.

1. Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang met in Port Moresby Wednesday with his counterpart Puka Temu, calling for enhanced China-Papua New Guinea relations.
