US-based Northeast Utilities has reported a net income of $64.8 million, or $0.37 per share, for the third quarter of 2009, compared to $72.7 million, or $0.47 per share, for the same period of 2008.
The company has reported operating revenues of $1.31 billion for the third quarter of 2009, compared to $1.51 billion for the same quarter of 2008.
Northeast Utilities has reported a net income of $245.3 million, or $1.43 per share, for the first nine months of 2009, compared to $188.9 million, or $1.21 per share, for the corresponding period of 2008.
Year-to-date operating revenues were $4.12 billion, compared to $4.35 billion for the first nine months of 2008.
Charles Shivery, chairman, president and CEO of Northeast Utilities, said: "We are pleased with our year-to-date results. We continue to manage successfully through the difficult economic conditions our region and nation are experiencing by maintaining tight control of our operating costs, even while we continue to invest in the energy infrastructure needed to serve our customers and our region."
